Space Race Cribbage
Visual Identity | Packaging | Illustration

Players race each other to the Moon in Space Race, a novelty themed Cribbage set inspired by the 1950's and 60's race to the Moon between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. With an aesthetic style based on mid-century space propaganda posters, this thematic Cribbage set includes a custom game board, a pack of 52 cards, 4 rocket-shaped pegs, and a rulebook so players can learn a classic game in a stylish new way!
Project Concept and Process
Cribbage is a traditionally classic game, that is unfortunately often aesthetically dull. While custom cribbage boards exist, a custom themed cribbage set is more of a rarity to find. I wanted to create a holistic repackaging of the game which would be the perfect novelty for cribbage fans and attract newcomers to the game.

The historic narrative of the Space Race to the moon between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. was the thematic solution. This real racing event fit well with the "race against opponent" game design of cribbage. Additionally, the retro futuristic cosmonaut designs of this era were the perfect launch pad for aesthetic inspiration for type, color, texture, and common iconography.
